Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham
Western Thermal’s vast experience in the undertaking of insulation contracts on large health projects has been instrumental in the development of Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. It will be the first new acute hospital in Britain's second city for 70 years.
The new hospital will replace Queen Elizabeth and Selly Oak hospitals and will provide 30 theatres: 23 inpatient theatres and 7 day case theatres separate dedicated visitor and patient lifts, 44% of inpatient beds are single rooms and all inpatient bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms. Working with the Balfour, Haden Young Joint Venture, Western Thermal will have insulated 150,000 mtrs of piping and 100,000 sq mtrs of ventilation systems by the contract hand over in 2010.
Western Thermal’s expertise was also called on to provide trace heating to essential services providing frost protection to 2000 mtrs of pipe.
